Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center seeks an ER Tech / Patient Care Tech to support the Emergency Department. You will provide direct patient care, perform phlebotomy and EKG tasks, and assist clinical staff across age groups under physician/ RN supervision.

Shift is 12-hour day hours; responsibilities include clerical coordination, patient transport, and bedside care. This role offers a competitive benefits package and growth within MercyOne Health System.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years healthcare experience preferred.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire.
• BLS certification within 6 weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist triage nursing with patient needs, vitals, rooming, and facilitating moves.
• Stocking and supply management in the assigned team.
• Assist RN with EMS arrivals and transport patients between departments.
• Prepare rooms, change linens, dispose of equipment, and clean surfaces.
• Rounding hourly to meet patient needs and communicate with the RN.
• Assist patients with personal hygiene and help with elimination needs.
• Collect and label specimens (urine, blood) accurately.

Education

1-2 years healthcare experience

American Heart Association BLS (Healthcare Providers)
