Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide safe, patient-focused care in the Emergency Department, using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.

The role requires an active state RN license, BLS, ALS, PALS/ENPC within set timeframes, and preference for a BSN or CEN certification; the position includes evening shifts and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Active and valid state RN license.
• BLS certification required at hire and maintained.
• ALS certification required by 30 days after hire and maintained.
• PALS certification and/or ENPC within 60 days after hire and maintained.
• CEN certification preferred.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care in the Emergency Department using the nursing process.
• Direct and guide patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing staff.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to the physician and document results of diagnostics.
• Ensure EMTALA compliance and report abuse as required; maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
