Job summary

HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for its freestanding ER to coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with providers and the care team.

The RN will lead pain management, document care, respond to patient needs, and educate patients and families about conditions, treatment plans, and follow-up measures. A BSN is preferred and several certifications are required within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• Active Florida RN license required.
• Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred.
• Minimum one year ER RN experience required.
• Current BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
• PALS and/or ENPC certifications required within 6 months of hire.
• NIHSS, TNCC, CPI training required within 6 months (grace period).
• National Board Certification (CEN, CPEN) highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management and reassess after intervention.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider; document care in patient record.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate patient needs to deliver exceptional care.
• Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications and potential side effects; translate complex terms.
• Educate on non-medicinal follow-up measures, including diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes; prepare for future self-management.
