Job summary

DCH Health System is seeking a Staff Nurse to join the Emergency Department and related units. You will provide direct care to psychiatric and medically ill patients, collaborate with ED staff, physicians, and the clinical assessment team, and help maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, education, care coordination, delegation, and accurate documentation. A BSN is preferred but Associates is acceptable; BLS is required.

Qualifications

• Current Alabama RN license or multi-state license.
• AHA/Red Cross BLS Provider training.
• BSN preferred, Associates degree required.
• Must read, write, speak and comprehend English.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition on admission and ongoing, including physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and discharge needs.
• Educate patient and family and document learning needs and barriers.
• Coordinate care with providers and other disciplines to achieve patient-centered outcomes.
• Assign and delegate nursing care to team members appropriately.
• Apply safety principles in care and document observations and plan changes.
