Job summary

DCH Health System's Northport Medical Center ED is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to provide high‑quality emergency care in a Level III Stroke Center. You will discharge with compassionate, patient‑centered focus, leading a team of clinicians and support staff.

Responsibilities include admission assessments, patient education, care coordination, safety documentation, and participation in performance improvement initiatives. ED experience with trauma care is valued.

Qualifications

• Current Alabama Board of Nursing RN license or multi-state license required or ability to obtain prior to start.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS and PALS typically required for ED with trauma.
• BSN preferred; at least an Associate degree acceptable per posting.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates and directs quality, compassionate care while maintaining professional nursing standards.
• Supervises LPNs, PCAs, US techs and other staff; delegates and supports team contributions.
• Assesses condition on admission and ongoing, including physical, psychological, social, and educational needs.
• Plans and documents patient and family education; identifies barriers to learning.
• Evaluates care, coordinates with family, providers and disciplines to achieve outcomes.
• Assigns and delegates nursing care according to patient needs and team capabilities.
• Applies safety principles and documents observations, care and changes in plan.
• Participates in transition rounds, care planning and PI activities; supports improvements.
• Performs initial and annual competency per job class.
