Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health’s Rahway Emergency Department is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for night shifts (7 PM–7:30 AM) in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting. The RN provides direct patient care, performs rapid assessments, administers medications, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, evidence-based treatment.

A NJ RN license and active BLS are required; ACLS and PALS within 6 months are expected. A Bachelor’s in Nursing is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires a minimum of 2 years plus of critical care experience, ED preferred.
• ASN or Nursing Diploma
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Proficient computer skills
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, intervene early and advocate for patients.
• Provide safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands-on care.
• Serve as clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers for timely, coordinated care decisions.
• Deliver clear, compassionate education to patients and families for informed care.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the EMR to promote continuity and safety.
• Contribute to interdisciplinary rounds to support seamless communication and transitions of care.
• Collaborate in a highly collaborative team environment with shared accountability.
• Pursue ongoing professional growth through education and clinical ladder opportunities.
