ER Registered Nurse — Fast-Paced Critical Care

Job summary

City of Hope is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department in Illinois. You will provide direct, compassionate care in a fast-paced setting, triaging, assessing, and prioritizing patient needs while administering medications and monitoring vitals.

The role requires an IL RN license, BLS/ACLS/PALS, NIHSS, oncology certification, plus 1 year ED/critical care experience and the ability to work 3 twelve-hour shifts (7a–7p).

Qualifications

• 1 year emergency or critical care experience.
• Graduate of NLNAC or CCNE school of Nursing.
• State of Illinois Registered Nurse License.
• BLS certification upon hire and maintained in position.
• ACLS upon hire and maintained in position.
• PALS certification upon hire or within 6 months of hire and maintained in position.
• NIHSS certification within 6 months of hire and maintained in position.
• Oncology Certification through ONCC when eligible or 6 oncology CE every year (18 oncology CE total every 3 years) for the Oncology Commission Cancer cycle.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, compassionate care to patients in a fast-paced emergency setting, including triaging, assessing, and prioritizing care needs.
• Perform clinical assessments, administer medications, monitor vital signs, and provide treatment in alignment with department protocols and patient needs.
• Manage complex patient situations, utilizing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations and assist in life-saving procedures such as CPR, and other emergency protocols.
• Ability to work well under pressure and in fast-paced environments.
• Demonstrates competence in patient triage and medical screening exams using the established protocols
• Demonstrates knowledge and use of vasoactive medications
• Ability to read and operate cardiac monitor, recognize normal/abnormal rhythms, and institute appropriate interventions
• Identify signs/symptoms of emergent and/or life-threatening conditions and follow protocols to meet goal times
• Attend In-House Code Blue and Rapid Response Calls, as required
• Must be able to work 3 12's, 7a-7p
