Job summary

UPMC Community Osteopathic in Harrisburg, PA is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the Emergency Department. The role is full-time, 40 hours weekly, with day/night rotating shifts and every other weekend/holiday requirements.

You will assist with patient procedures and ADLs, document in medical records, and collaborate with RNs and the healthcare team. Prior healthcare exposure is valued; training will be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Any of the listed education or training paths may fulfill qualification needs.
• Experience or training in patient care settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient procedures and activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Document medical records according to procedures and report equipment issues.
• Support universal unit activities and respond to call lights and calls.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and health care team.
• Possess or develop competency in advanced skills as needed by department.

Education

Bachelor's degree in health sciences

Enrollment in PT/OT/PA/RN program with clinical rotation

UPMC PCT class completion

Basic information system training

Microcomputer experience

Tools

Telemetry monitoring

Electronic health records (EHR) documentation

12-lead EKG
