Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems is seeking a part-time Nursing Assistant/Medical Assistant for the Emergency Room at Tappahannock Hospital. The role provides direct patient care under supervision and supports the health care team to ensure safety and quality.

Responsibilities include monitoring patients, collecting vitals, assisting with ADLs, and preparing supplies. Prior healthcare experience is required; BLS certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or equivalent
• Preferred Education: Certified Nursing Assistant
• Licensure/Certification Required: AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and direct care to patients in their assigned unit with age-appropriate adjustments.
• Monitor patients' conditions and provide updates to the health care team.
• Provide direct and indirect care to patients with varied medical/surgical needs.
• Maintain safe, clean, stocked environment to support patient care.
• Record initial and ongoing patient information: vitals, intake/output, and weight.
• Assist in specimen collection for diagnostics as needed.
• Attend mandatory in-services and trainings.
• Ensure patient safety and report concerns to licensed staff.
• Establish rapport with patients and staff; respond to instructions promptly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
