Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Emergency Department in Mount Holly, part-time days. You will assist with daily living activities, support the healthcare team, and help deliver patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires completing a PCT course or CNA program, HS diploma or GED, BLS, and phlebotomy training if in ED. Strong communication and attention to safety are essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of basic patient care skills, procedures, and standards.
• Must have strong communication skills.
• Education: High School Diploma or GED; PCT course or CNA program or one year direct patient care experience.
• BLS certification; Phlebotomy training/education is required for ED positions.

Responsibilities

• Assists with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, mobility).
• Performs vital signs, point-of-care testing, bladder scanning, and Foley catheter care as per population served; documents appropriately.
• Phlebotomy and EKGs if certified.
• Identifies and communicates changes in patient status to RN/LPN; responds appropriately.
• Reinforces patient and family education on care needs and safety issues.
• Participates in patient satisfaction initiatives and quality improvement activities.
• Assists in orientation of new hires.
