Job summary

Hutchinson Regional Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Emergency department on a PRN basis. You will provide patient care under the direction of physicians and nursing staff, while maintaining documentation and patient privacy in a fast-paced setting.

The role requires basic computer skills, effective communication, and a compassionate approach to patients from newborns to geriatric.

Qualifications

• Certification as an MA, CNA, PCT, EMT, or HHA in Kansas or at least one semester of Nursing School.
• Current BLS/CPR card prior to participating in patient care activities.
• Successful completion of on the job training for sterile technique, maintenance of sterile field and instrument care/handling (Obstetrics and Surgery).
• Successful completion of on the job EKG and phlebotomy training (Emergency).

Responsibilities

• Complete timely and accurate documentation as per Health System/affiliate policy.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients as described in unit/department-based competencies, policies, and procedures.
• Provide care as directed to achieve desired patient outcomes for patients newborn thru geriatric.
• Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values.
• Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of PHI.
• Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.
