Stony Brook Medicine seeks a Patient Access Representative for the Emergency Room (Days 7a-3p). This role supports Registration, Financial Screening, Verification, and patient throughput, ensuring accurate data, compliant documentation, and patient-friendly service in a high-volume setting.

The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, experience in healthcare customer service, and the ability to adapt to changing patient needs. Some holidays and variable pass days are required.

Qualificações

• Associate's Degree plus one year of customer service/healthcare experience, or two years of related experience in customer service, insurance, or access services.
• Ability to maneuver a workstation on wheels through patient rooms and registration areas.
• Professional communication with patients and families facing health issues.

Responsabilidades

• Register high-volume patients in the Emergency Room and admissions workflows.
• Verify insurance coverage and collect co-pays at the point of service.
• Provide financial guidance and explain benefit coverage and cost shares to patients.
• Ensure documentation accuracy and completeness for billing and compliance.
• Support through-demand changes in workflow to manage census and acuity.
