Job summary

UF Health in Saint Augustine, FL is seeking an Emergency Paramedic to support ED physicians and RNs with both invasive and non-invasive procedures. You will collect patient history, document care, and assist with life-saving measures and patient transport in a fast-paced emergency department.

The role requires a Florida Paramedic License, BLS, and completion of ACLS, PALS, NRP, and NAPPI within specified timelines after hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; an Associate degree is preferred (e.g., Allied Health Science, EMS).
• 0–1 Paramedic experience required; hospital setting experience preferred.
• Licensure and certifications: Florida Paramedic License; BLS; ACLS within 6 months; PALS within 6 months; NRP within 6 months; NAPPI within 6 months.
• BLS certification and NAPPI training required within defined timelines after hire; annual re-certification will be required.

Responsibilities

• Collects and conveys information to RN/physician regarding patient status.
• Informs patient of treatment plan; assists RN in delivering and documenting care.
• Aids in patient comfort and safety: moving, turning, bed transfers, hygiene; documents intake/output.
• Initiates lifesaving measures as needed: airway maneuvers, CPR, hemorrhage control, stabilization.
• Stabilizes and extricates injured patients; assists with patient movement to/from vehicles and ED.
• Performs phlebotomy, basic lab procedures, wound care, POCT, EKGs; manages IV lines.
• Directs patient flow, transports patients as directed; performs all other assigned duties.
