Job summary

UF Health in Florida seeks an Emergency Paramedic to support the ED under RN supervision. You will collect patient histories, assist ED physicians and RNs with invasive and non-invasive procedures, and ensure patients' basic care needs are met.

Responsibilities include conveying information to the care team, aiding with comfort and safety, initiating lifesaving measures, stabilizing/extricating patients, performing phlebotomy, IVs, EKGs, and directing patient flow in triage.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 0-1 year Paramedic experience.
• Florida Paramedic License.
• BLS certification.
• NAPPI training required within 90 days; re-certification annually.

Responsibilities

• Collects and conveys information to RN and physician regarding patient health status.
• Assists with patient comfort, safety, and basic care needs (movement, linen changes, bathing, elimination).
• Initiates lifesaving measures as needed (airway, ventilation, hemorrhage control, CPR).
• Stabilizes and extricates injured patients from vehicles at the ED entrance; assists with patient transport.
• Performs phlebotomy, basic lab tests, wound care, culture procedures, POCT, EKGs; handles IV catheter placement/removal.
• Directs patient flow and traffic in triage/reception; transports patients as directed.
• All other duties as assigned by department.
