Job summary

Choctaw Regional Medical Center is seeking a compassionate Emergency Department (ED) Nurse to join our fast-paced team. The nurse will perform initial patient assessments, lab work, point-of-care testing, and related administrative tasks within the ED.

The role involves triaging efficiently, collaborating with ED physicians on discharge plans, and ensuring outpatient instructions are provided for patients not admitted.

Qualifications

• Active Mississippi nursing license.
• ACLS, PALS, and BLS within three months of starting employment.
• TNCC certification within eighteen months of starting employment if required.
• Compliance with Mississippi Board of Nursing scope of practice.

Responsibilities

• Triage safely, rapidly, and accurately all patients entering the ED.
• Coordinate care with multiple disciplines and maintain professional accountability.
• Communicate changes in patient status and test results with ED physicians.
• Oversee unit operations and maintain equipment readiness and inventory.
• Check narcotics records, sign logs, and manage supplies for each shift.
• Assist with discharge planning and creation of outpatient instructions when appropriate.
