Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital is seeking a dedicated RN to join the Level I Emergency Department team for full-time night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, including weekends and holidays. The role emphasizes direct patient care, teaching, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Ideal candidates are Ohio-licensed RNs with BLS and ACLS/PALS certifications, plus a BSN preferred. The hospital supports ongoing orientation and critical care education in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN) and RN license in Ohio.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or Red Cross.
• ACLS certification or ALS certification upon hire or within one year.
• PALS certification upon hire or within one year.
• BSN preferred; nursing degree from accredited program.
• Completion of AGMC RN and critical care orientation programs and Critical Care course.

Responsibilities

• Complete Emergency Department Assessment Data Base upon patient arrival, including psychosocial, educational and age-specific needs.
• Perform ongoing assessments per policies and identify changes in patient condition.
• Develop an individualized plan of care and provide teaching for patient/family.
• Review and document care plans and discharge goals with patients and families.
• Maintain a safe environment and administer IVs and medications per standards.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to the director/physician/nursing coordinator.
• Provide care during emergencies and crisis situations with professionalism.
• Participate in patient care rounds, shift handoffs and unit communications.
• Assist in orientation of RNs and other hospital personnel and partake in training programs.
