Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current registered nurse licensure in the state of New Mexico.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certification and/or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the emergency department and evaluate outcomes.
• Assess, plan, implement and educate patient/family on appropriate plan of care and pain management.
• Demonstrate ability to triage safely, rapidly and accurately for all patients.
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments and responses.
• Communicate with ED physicians about changes in patient status and diagnostic results.
• Lead and train staff; supervise temporary personnel and new hires as assigned.
