Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department at Kishwaukee Hospital. The RN will provide evidence-based nursing care, assess patients, educate families, and coordinate with the multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include medication administration, discharge planning, and ongoing communication with physicians to ensure high-quality patient outcomes. A BSN is preferred; ADN with BSN commitment is acceptable.

Qualifications

• BSN required; IL RN license current
• ADN acceptable with commitment to obtain BSN within 3 years
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments across age groups per unit guidelines
• Coordinate with physicians and care team; document plan and progress
• Develop and update nursing care plans based on patient needs and diagnoses
• Educate patients/families and plan discharge planning from admission
• Administer medications and treatments safely; monitor patient responses
• Communicate changes in patient status to the care team promptly
• Participate in ongoing patient safety and quality initiatives

Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

ADN acceptable with commitment to BSN within 3 years
