Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department In-House Registry Nights at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, IL. The role involves patient assessment, planning, intervention, and coordination of care for acutely ill patients. Requirements include a BSN, IL RN license, and BLS (AHA).

ADN may be acceptable with commitment to BSN within three years. ACLS/PALS/ENPC/TNCC experience are preferred for ER and pediatric ER.

Qualifications

• BSN required and Illinois RN license required.
• BLS required with American Heart Association certification.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
• Analytical abilities and teamwork are essential.
• ADN acceptable if committed to obtain BSN within 3 years of employment.

Responsibilities

• Collects and analyzes data, identifies expected outcomes, develops and implements an individualized plan, coordinates care delivery and evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.
• Directs care and determines the appropriate utilization of any assistant involved in providing direct patient care.
• Collaborates with patient, family, physicians and ancillary staff. Creates a documented plan focused on outcomes and decisions related to the care and delivery of services.
• Participates in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
• Evaluates and documents the patient’s responses to nursing interventions in the health record and properly individualizes the plan of care based on the evaluation of findings.
• Utilizes the best available evidence, including research findings to guide practice decisions.
