Qualifications

• Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice acquired through education and experience.
• Current New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse.
• BLS certification and de-escalation training; ACLS beneficial for ED.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and the health team.

Responsibilities

• The RN collects patient health data by involving the patient, family and other health care providers.
• Performs initial assessment based on patient’s presentation and documents findings.
• Maintains and updates the nursing plan of care and progress notes.
• Demonstrates awareness of age and cultural needs, adapting care as required.
• Performs ongoing assessments and integrates discharge planning into care.
• Collaborates with team to meet holistic patient needs and safety standards.
• Provides education to patient and family using individualized learning needs.
