Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a Nurse Aide II for the Emergency Department on a part-time day shift (7 am - 7 pm) with alternating weekends. Under RN supervision, you will assist nursing and medical staff, maintain a clean, safe patient area, transport patients, and participate in new-employee orientation.

You will perform vital signs, assist with ADLs, and provide compassionate care while recognizing cultural needs and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification (AHA) required.
• EMT certification or hospital/sub-acute experience or nursing student preferred.
• Excellent customer service and telephone skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Observe patient and relay changes to nursing staff.
• Assist with activities of daily living and meet patient needs.
• Provide direct nursing care under RN supervision (vital signs, baths, catheter care).
• Assist with turning/positioning to protect skin integrity.
• Document intake and nourishment, manage patient flow between examination areas.
• Respond to emergencies under RN direction (CPR, patient movement).
• Ensure patient safety and comfort; communicate patient concerns to staff.
• Adhere to infection control and universal precautions.
