Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department on a part-time, night-shift schedule (7p–7:30a) with alternate weekend requirements. You will perform professional nursing care per physician plans, assess needs, document progress, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient and family well-being.

The role requires a NYS RN license, BLS, ACLS, PALS/TNCC within first year, and TCAR certification for certain units.

Qualifications

• Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice acquired through completion of a two-year training at an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse.
• BLS certification and de-escalation training.
• ACLS (ICU, Float pool, Emergency Dept).
• TCAR Certification (SICU, PACU).
• For Emergency Dept: PALS, TNCC within first year.
• Experience with EHR systems and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient health data involving the patient, family and other health care providers.
• Perform initial assessment based on patient’s presentation.
• Document the nursing component of the Interdisciplinary Admission Assessment.
• Demonstrate cultural awareness and address patient needs.
• Incorporate discharge planning into admission process.
• Develop a plan of care and coordinate with patient/family and team.
• Educate patient and family using appropriate learning needs.
