VCA Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center in Norwalk, CT is seeking a compassionate ER Liaison — a veterinary technician or assistant who thrives on connection as well as clinical care.

You’ll bridge communication between the emergency team, clients, and referring veterinarians, set expectations, and keep clients informed throughout the stay. We offer a supportive, 24/7 environment with strong advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a veterinary practice.
• Solid medical knowledge and comfort discussing clinical situations with clients.
• Excellent verbal communication skills for translating medical and financial information to anxious clients.
• Strong phone and computer skills, including experience with medical records and practice management software.
• Ability to stay organized in a fast-paced, high-emotion environment.
• Genuine compassion for patients and pet owners.
• Availability to work weekends and the posted schedule.
• Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant background; CVT/LVT/RVT welcome to apply.

Responsabilités

• Bridge communication between the emergency doctor, the client, and the patient’s primary care veterinarian.
• Set clear expectations for stay from presentation through discharge.
• Keep clients informed at every step, coordinating with front desk, technicians, doctors, and specialists.
• Field and route incoming calls, serving as a steady point of contact for clients and referring vets.
• Deliver progress updates, assist with prescriptions, and support clients with hospitalized pets.
• Maintain accurate medical records and correspondence logs.
• Guide families through euthanasia and after-life care with care and clarity.
