Job summary

VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists in Clackamas, OR is seeking an Overnight Veterinary Technician Assistant to support ER/ICU services. You will triage emergencies, assist with lab work, client interactions, and euthanasia procedures when needed.

Qualifications

• At least one year of veterinary experience.
• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• Excellent listening and communication skills: both verbal and written.
• Compassion for pets and people--as well as awareness, understanding and respect for others' choices.
• Proven decision making skills to choose the most appropriate course of action.
• The ability to integrate new information into problem solving.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• The ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and be exposed to hazards associated with pets.

Responsibilities

• Triage of emergency cases.
• Collecting laboratory samples such as: blood, urine and feces.
• Processing laboratory samples in-house.
• Preparing laboratory samples for outside labs.
• Helping clients through the euthanasia process.
• Answering multi-line telephones.
• Managing medical records, reports and correspondence.
• Additional duties may be required based on the needs of the business.
