Job summary

Nashville Veterinary Specialists is seeking an experienced ER/ICU Veterinary Technician to join our ICU team in Nashville, TN. You will care for hospitalized and critical patients, perform nursing duties, and support the veterinary team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years as Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant, preferably in emergency medicine.
• Fluent English speaking and reading.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate patient care documentation.
• Ability to adapt to fast-paced ICU environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on nursing care for hospitalized and critical patients in the ICU.
• Perform Veterinary Technician duties including patient assessment, triage, treatments, diagnostics, monitoring, and nursing care.
• Support veterinarians and the medical team with emergency and critical care patients.
• Perform and assist with phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, diagnostic imaging, anesthesia, laboratory procedures, and medication administration.
• Assist with advanced procedures based on experience and training.
• Monitor patient status and communicate changes promptly to the veterinary medical team.
• Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.
• Provide compassionate and professional communication with clients regarding patient care when appropriate.
• Maintain clean, organized, and appropriately stocked patient care areas.
• Work collaboratively with other Veterinary Technicians, assistants, veterinarians, and support staff.
• Continue developing technical skills in a learning-focused specialty and emergency animal hospital.
