Job summary

Community Medical Center in Missoula, MT, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator (ER) to support the Emergency Department's fast-paced workflow. This administrative role coordinates admissions, transfers, discharges, and communications to ensure smooth patient care and accurate documentation.

The HUC will manage EHRs, order entry, patient flow, and unit supplies while delivering courteous service to patients, families, and staff.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

• Familiarity with medical terminology and clinical workflows.

Responsibilities

• Act as the communications hub by answering calls and relaying messages.
• Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, discharges and registrations using EHR.
• Enter and verify physician orders for tests and medications.
• Maintain patient charts and ensure scanning/filing of records.
• Manage unit supplies and coordinate environmental/service requests.
• Greet patients and families, answer questions, and support nursing staff.
