Job summary

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, NY is seeking an EKG Associate in the Emergency Room for a part-time/hourly role. The position focuses on cardiac monitoring, infection control, and direct and indirect patient care under nursing supervision.

Candidates must have EKG/ECG training and phlebotomy, a high school diploma, and BLS certification. Preferred candidates have 1 year of experience or a PCT/Medical Assistant background.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of training course(s) and/or certificate for electrocardiography (EKG) or electrocardiograph (ECG), and Phlebotomy.
• High school diploma or its educational equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• A satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, training and education to the above.

Responsibilities

• Conduct cardiac monitoring on the adult population.
• Practices effective Infection Control measures.
• Performs direct nursing care activity as delegated.
• Performs indirect nursing care activities as determined by routine assignment and unit activity.
• Maintains a safe and efficient work environment.
