Job summary

Ochsner Health in Monroe, LA seeks a Certified Nursing Assistant to assist with basic patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. You will monitor patients, report changes, and help maintain a safe, clean environment while communicating effectively with the care team.

Preferred qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalent, hospital/telemetry experience, and CNA certification. BLS and CPI must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Preferred - High School diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred- Hospital and telemetry experience.
• Required - CNA certification; BLS from American Heart Association to be obtained within 30 days from hire; CPI to be obtained within 30 days from hire.

Responsibilities

• Supports the plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of skills verification.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment in the patient care area.
• Provides care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas.
• Communicates patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and other staff members, including multi-disciplinary teams.
• Completes documentation of patient related tasks.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
