Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) to lead nursing units, coordinate staffing, and support clinical excellence.

The ANM collaborates with the Nurse Manager to drive throughput, quality and safety outcomes, and staff competency, while guiding hiring, coaching, and performance evaluations. The role emphasizes operational leadership, unit efficiency, and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• A minimum of an associate in Nursing or diploma of Nursing degree.
• BSN in progress and/or willing to acquire within three (3) years of hire.
• Minimum 3 years recent nursing experience in respective specialty.

Responsibilities

• Participate in recruitment and retention strategies.
• Assist with unit huddles and leader rounding with employees.
• Participate in unit goal creation reflective of hospital goals and mission.
• Lead or participate in evidence-based practice projects or research.
• Lead or participate in unit-based or hospital-based governance committees or councils.
• Resolve conflicts and facilitate positive outcomes.
• Prepare and conduct periodic performance evaluations.
• Contribute to unit orientation and staff development.
• Model cultural competence and fairness, fostering diverse work groups.

Education

Associate degree in Nursing or Diploma of Nursing

BSN in progress or willing to pursue within 3 years

Minimum 3 years nursing experience in the relevant specialty
