Job summary

San Luis Valley Health is seeking ER Aides to join the Emergency Room team at the Conejos County Hospital in La Jara and Regional Medical Center in Alamosa. This full-time role may cross-train to support unit secretary tasks as needed.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or GED, CNA or EMT-Basic certification, and at least 1 year of CNA experience (2 preferred). Proficiency in Excel/Word and basic medical terminology is expected.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED.
• CNA certification or EMT-Basic required.
• One year CNA experience required; two preferred.
• Knowledge of HIPAA practices.
• Ability to type 30 wpm; Medical Secretary experience and familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
• Familiar with Microsoft Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with physician or nursing staff regarding patient conditions.
• Manage intake and order processing for ED patients and register them for care.
• Enter lab and X-ray orders and communicate with nursing/EMT staff.
• Assist with monitor, blood/urine samples, wound care, dressings, and transport.
• Follow processes for patient orders until complete.
• Communicate medications/procedures for each patient as directed by physician.
• Manage acuity charge code calculations and accurate data entry.
• Document correct charge levels and complete process.
• Manage culture orders and documentation.
• Manage ED patient charts and correct errors.
• Stock supplies, empty trash, assist with cleaning and bed changes.
• Take vital signs.

Salary Range: $16.40 To $22.90 Hourly

San Luis Valley Health is seeking full-time, part-time and PRN ER Aides to join our Emergency Room team at the Conejos County Hospital in La Jara and the Regional Medical Center in Alamosa! The Emergency Room Aide will also cross train to cover some responsibilities as a Unit Secretary and work in that role as needed.

What you'll have:

• High School graduate or GED
• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification, or EMT- Basic certification required
• One year experience as a CNA required, two preferred
• Knowledge of HIPAA practices
• Ability to type 30 wpm. Prior Medical Secretary experience and familiarity with medical terminology preferred
• Familiar with Microsoft’s Excel and Word programs

What you'll do:

• Communicate with the physician or nursing staff regarding patient conditions
• Manage the Intake / Order Processing of all ED patients, inputting all necessary information for a patient to be registered and seen in the Emergency Department.
• Enter Lab and X-ray orders, communicating all orders with the appropriate nursing staff and EMT staff
• Ability to put patient on cardiac monitor, obtain blood and urine samples, perform wound care, change dressings and help in transport.
• Follow appropriate processes for patient orders until complete
• Communicate necessary medications/procedures for each patient as directed by the physician
• Manage acuity charge code calculations; entering accurate information into the computer
• Responsible for documenting the appropriate charge levels, following the complete process
• Manage all culture orders and document as instructed
• Manage ED patient charts, copying and filing according to correct processes and communicating any errors
• Stock supplies, empty trash cans, assist with cleaning/changing of beds, appropriate management of instruments
• Take Vital signs
