Job summary

Jamestown Regional Medical Center is seeking a part-time ER registrar to register patients, collect information and payments, and coordinate scheduling. You will greet patients, gather required data, verify insurance, and support admissions processes with a focus on accuracy and customer service.

The role requires strong communication, reliability, and the ability to work within the ED environment, including weekend shifts and holiday coverage when needed.

Qualifications

• High school level knowledge preferred; must follow oral or written orders.
• One year clerical experience required; knowledge of medical terminology and insurance plans is beneficial.
• Punctual and regular attendance is essential; report to work as scheduled and prepared to start.
• Must be able to speak and write English clearly.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and direct them to the appropriate area.
• Interview patients to gather demographic, insurance, and signatures.
• Explain hospital policies and collect payments; issue receipts.
• Pre-register/register patients for departments and admissions.
• Prepare daily appointment/treatment schedules for the assigned department.
• Make reminder and pre-service calls for scheduled services.
• Input patient information into the computer and distribute necessary forms.
• Answer calls promptly and relay messages to the right staff.
• Verify insurance eligibility and coverage with carriers.
• Assist in preauthorization inquiries with the service area. Respond to emergencies per policy.
• Support Financial Counselor in determining co-pays and deductibles.
