Job summary

Portland Public Schools is seeking a passionate Pre-K teacher for PPS Community Partner Site (YFO). The ideal candidate will implement Maine Early Learning Development Standards and an equity-focused approach to instruction in a warm, inclusive classroom.

You will collaborate with co-teachers, ESOL specialists, and special educators, plan differentiated lessons, and engage families to support every child’s growth in numeracy, literacy, and social-emotional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of education from an accredited college or university
• Experience working in Pre-K and/or Kindergarten classrooms preferred
• Experience with Pre-K for ME and Teaching Strategies Gold preferred

Responsibilities

• Maximize intellectual, physical, social and emotional development for all students within a small, cohesive learning environment
• Establish a warm, caring and inclusive community of young learners with developmentally appropriate classroom management
• Plan learning experiences aligned to the Maine Early Learning Development Standards and responsive to individual student needs
• Implement early numeracy and literacy instruction and assessment
• Differentiate instruction to meet the unique needs of all learners
• Integrate outdoor learning experiences across the curriculum
• Collaborate with Pre-K and Kindergarten Co-Teacher, ESOL specialists and SPED Ed Techs to ensure culturally and linguistically responsive instruction and IEP goals
• Participate in professional learning with PreK and Kindergarten teachers across Portland Public Schools
• Attend school meetings, programs, activities and events outside the instructional day as needed
