Job summary

Portland Public Schools is seeking a passionate Pre-K teacher for the PPS Community Partner Site (YFO) in Portland. The ideal candidate will apply Maine Early Learning Development Standards and evidence-based early childhood pedagogy to create a warm, inclusive, developmentally appropriate classroom.

You will collaborate with school administrators, ESOL specialists, and related staff to support diverse learners, implement early numeracy and literacy, assess progress, and participate in district

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of education.
• Experience working in Pre-K and/or Kindergarten classrooms preferred.
• Experience with Pre-K for ME and Teaching Strategies Gold preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maximize intellectual, physical, social and emotional development for all students within a small, cohesive learning environment.
• Establish a warm, caring and inclusive community of young learners with developmentally appropriate classroom management.
• Plan learning experiences aligned to the Maine Early Learning Development Standards.
• Implement early numeracy and literacy instruction and assessment.
• Collaborate with ESOL, Special Ed Ed Techs, and related staff to support diverse learners.
• Attend school meetings and events outside the instructional day as needed.
