Job summary

San Mateo County Community College District's College of San Mateo seeks a faculty member to teach courses in communication studies with culturally responsive pedagogy and a strong emphasis on equity for diverse students. Courses may be offered day, evening, hybrid, or online, with a preference for face-to-face sections.

Qualifications

• Master's or higher in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, or related fields; or equivalent.
• Cultural competence and equity-minded practice with diverse student backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in the communication studies discipline using culturally responsive pedagogy.
• Engage underrepresented and underserved student groups.
• Develop instructional materials and close equity gaps in coursework.
• Assist in new course development, curriculum revisions, and assessments.
• Collaborate with campus programs and resources to enhance student learning.
• Participate in departmental planning, meetings, and committees.
• Provide office hours for student consultation and support.
