Job summary

Fresno City College seeks a Communication Arts Instructor to join a tenure-track department on the Fresno City College campus and at off-site community locations. The candidate will teach a full range of communication courses with emphasis on public speaking, contribute to curriculum development, and advance student success through equity-minded practices.

Qualifications

• Master's in relevant fields or equivalency.
• Bachelor's in relevant fields plus Master's in drama/theater arts, mass communication or English is acceptable with equivalency.
• California Community College Credential or equivalent education/experience required.

Responsibilities

• Teaching a full range of classes appropriate to the Communication discipline with a primary assignment in public speaking due to demands, and other courses as assigned.
• Communicating effectively with students and staff.
• Using technology solutions in the classroom.
• Participating in appropriate professional meetings and workshops.
• Participating in the extracurricular activities in the department.
• Serving on and attending department, college, and district committees as needed.
• Participating in program review, student learning outcome development, and assessment to improve student learning.
• Teaching assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evening and/or weekends, on-line or off-campus, and large group instruction classes as needed, may include off-campus instruction at local high schools for dual enrollment.
• Otherwise fulfilling all of the duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122; and
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

Master's in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, communication, communication studies, speech communication or organizational communication

Bachelor's in any of the above and Master's in drama/ theater arts, mass communication or English

A valid California Community College Credential

The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency)
