Job summary

Lakeside School in Seattle seeks an Upper School Counselor to support grades 9–12 with culturally responsive, strengths-based counseling. The role works in a collaborative Student Support Team to promote student wellbeing and academic success at a full-time, 10-month appointment starting early November 2026.

Responsibilities include direct counseling, crisis intervention, and liaising with families and staff.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in counseling, school counseling, psychology, school psychology, marriage and family therapy, or social work
• Experience with safety and risk assessment and diverse high school populations
• Cultural awareness and commitment to ongoing professional development in diversity

Responsibilities

• Provide direct 1:1 and small group counseling
• Conduct crisis intervention and safety assessments
• Facilitate academic accommodations and case management
• Liaise with parents, staff, and outside providers on student mental health
• Deliver education on social-emotional topics to students and staff
• Participate actively in Student Support Team meetings and school-wide meetings
• Engage in co-curricular activities and stay current on best practices in counseling
