Job summary

Holy Rosary School (Seattle) in Seattle, WA seeks a school counselor to support students from preschool through 8th grade, collaborating with teachers and families to promote emotional safety and academic success. The role involves delivering SEL lessons, individual and group counseling, and crisis support as needed, beginning in September 2026.

The counselor will use data to measure program effectiveness, participate in school climate initiatives, and maintain confidential records.

Qualifications

• WA State ESA certification preferred; other professional certification considered.
• Experience with elementary and middle school students and parents in a school setting.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and sound judgment.
• Experience with student/parent programming and diverse student populations.
• Strong communication, organization and collaboration skills.
• Experience presenting to classrooms and conducting counseling sessions.
• Be a practicing Catholic or willing to support Catholic education.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to support academic and emotional progress.
• Collaborate with faculty and parents to address performance and behavior concerns and interventions.
• Deliver developmentally appropriate lessons to support SEL and academic achievement.
• Use data to evaluate counseling program effectiveness and guide actions.
• Support student development and engagement at recess and during school activities.
• Refer students needing additional screening to outside resources.
• Lead initiatives to improve school climate, attendance and well-being.
• Identify systemic barriers and work on strategies to improve access and achievement.
• Facilitate small-group counseling on social skills, emotional regulation and related needs.
• Maintain confidential student records and comply with policies.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and safety/crisis response as needed.
• Attend trainings and staff meetings; occasional evening events.
