Job summary

Plymouth-Canton Community Schools seeks a Multi Language Learner Teacher at Bentley Elementary School. The 1.0 FTE position focuses on developing English skills for EL students and coordinating with general education teachers to provide inclusive instruction.

The role requires an Michigan teaching certificate with ESL/TESOL or bilingual endorsement, and strong communication with students, families, and staff. Start is as soon as possible; salary follows the PCEA schedule.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate with English as a Second Language (NS) endorsement, TESOL, or Bi-lingual.
• Ability to teach a wide variety of students with many different languages.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, school staff and parents.

Responsibilities

• Provides academic support to students with developing English skills, including students with IEP's.
• Acts as an ombudsman to EL students and parents.
• Support EL students in a co-teaching model, collaborating with general education teachers.
• Communicates with counselors, administrators and parents.
• Develops and implements prescriptive academic plans based on diagnostic testing using SIOP components.
• Advocates and presents issues and programs related to EL in formal and informal contexts.
• Assists students with their general education classes.
• Implements strategies and programs to improve EL students reading, writing and oral language proficiencies.
