Job summary

Cambridge Lakes Charter School in Hampshire Township, IL seeks an EL/Bilingual Resource Teacher to support English learners (PEP) in K-8, delivering instruction in Spanish and English through pull-out and push-in services.

You will assess language proficiency, plan bilingual groups, and collaborate with the EL Department to place students appropriately within the Transitional Bilingual Program; report to the Director of Instruction & Innovation.

Qualifications

• Requires ISBE bilingual licensure (PEL with bilingual endorsement in Spanish) OR Educator License with Stipulations (ELS-VIT) with a passing score on English proficiency OR ELS-TBE with bilingual endorsement in Spanish OR Short Term Approval (PEL with 9 hours of bilingual education coursework).
• Experience with K-8 bilingual services is advantageous.
• Collaboration with EL Department to ensure best practices in service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess students’ academic level, language proficiency, cultural and linguistic background.
• Provide bilingual instruction to small groups in grades K-8 using pull-out or push-in services.
• Collaborate with the EL Department to implement best practices in service delivery.
• Make placement recommendations within the Transitional Bilingual Program (full-time or part-time).
