Job summary

Beverly Teachers Association is seeking a part-time Equity Coordinator to support discrimination/harassment and bullying policy implementation across Beverly buildings. You will educate staff, students, and parents on policies, coordinate with the Title VI & IX Coordinator, and promote equity across the school community.

Responsibilities include documenting complaints, interviewing parties, recommending actions, and maintaining secure records with oversight from the Principal.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance and consultation to staff and students regarding discrimination/harassment and bullying at specified buildings on an ongoing basis
  • Inform all students of Beverly Discrimination/Harassment and Bullying Policies and Procedures by October 1
  • Review with school personnel the policies by October 1
  • Explain policies to parents at first open house (by October 20) and as needed
  • Ensure staff, students and parents know who their building Equity Coordinator is
  • Ensure policy summaries are posted in every room
  • Receive and refer discrimination/harassment and bullying complaints to Title VI & IX Coordinator
  • Document and investigate student-student complaints following guidelines
  • Interview all parties and meet with associated parties
  • Recommend corrective action and discipline as indicated
  • Maintain records in a secure file
  • Resolve informal complaints
  • Notify parents of targets and aggressors of complaints and outcomes
  • Provide written findings and recommendations under supervision of Principal and/or Coordinator
  • Update the Title VI & IX Coordinator regularly
  • Attend Equity Coordinator group meetings and individual meetings with Coordinator
  • Promote and support student equity programs
  • Participate in trainings and workshops
  • Review and refer reports of alleged prohibited conduct and address complaints promptly
  • Assess climate issues and recommend actions to building administration
  • Promote school-wide tolerance and diversity through collaboration
  • Compensation is set in accordance with the Beverly Teachers Association Unit A collective bargaining agreement.

Job description

I. Basic Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance and consultation to staff and students with regard to discrimination/harassment and bullying issues at specified building locations on an ongoing basis
  • Inform all students of BPS Discrimination/Harassment and Bullying Policies and Procedures by October 1
  • Review with school faculty, staff, lunch monitors, cafeteria workers and office staff BPS Discrimination/Harassment and Bullying Policies and Procedures by October 1
  • Explain BPS Discrimination/Harassment and Bullying Policies to parents at first open house(by October 20th, and as necessary)
  • Ensure that staff, students and parents know who their building Equity Coordinator is
  • Ensure that policy summaries are posted in every room
II.Receive discrimination/harassment and bullying complaints from students and refer, when appropriate, to the Title(s) VI & IX Coordinator
  • Document and investigate student-student complaints in accordance with procedural guidelines
  • Interview all parties (target, aggressor, witnesses) and meet with associated parties (teachers, administrators, parents or guardians), as indicated
  • Make recommendations for corrective action and discipline, as indicated
  • Maintain all appropriate records relating to complaints in a secure file
  • Resolve informal complaints
  • Notify parents of target and aggressor of complaints and outcomes
  • Respond in writing of findings and recommendations (to target and aggressor on formal complaints) with supervision of Principal and/or Title(s) VI & IX Coordinator
III.Update the Title(s) VI & IX Coordinator regularly
  • Attend a minimum of two (2) Equity Coordinator group meetings per year
  • Attend a minimum of one (1) individual meeting with Title(s) VI & IX Coordinator per year
  • Help promote and support student equity programs in respective buildings
  • Participate in appropriate trainings and workshops as scheduled by Title(s) VI & IX Coordinator
  • Review, facilitate, investigate and refer when appropriate, oral and/or written reports of alleged prohibited conduct, providing prompt and thorough attention to all complaints
  • Assess climate issues/concerns and make recommendations to the building administration
  • Promote an "area of focus" for the school year that supports the spirit of our Discrimination/Harassment & Bullying Policies and meets a need in your specific school community
  • Foster school wide tolerance and diversity appreciation through ongoing collaboration with building administrators and colleagues
Compensation
  • Compensation is set in accordance with the Beverly Teachers Association Unit A collective bargaining agreement.
  • In the event that multiple individuals are selected to fill a single stipend position, the stipend amount shall be divided equally among all such individuals.
