Job summary

Municipality of Anchorage is seeking an Equipment Technician to inspect, diagnose, repair and maintain heavy equipment and vehicles. The role requires welding, fabrication, mounting skills, and proficiency with diagnostic tools.

You will perform preventive maintenance, brake and tire work, I/M emissions tests, and document activities in the maintenance system. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED plus a journeyman apprenticeship, or 5 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and completion of an approved journeyman mechanic apprenticeship program.
• Four to five years of automotive or heavy equipment maintenance and repair experience.
• Valid Class B CDL with Passenger endorsement or ability to obtain one as required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, adjust, diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy equipment and light duty vehicles.
• Perform welding, fabrication, mounting, and use of hand/power tools.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, brake inspections, and tire maintenance.
• Complete inspections and support seasonal rebuilds; perform I/M emissions tests.
• Document work using maintenance management software; maintain a safe, clean work environment.
