City of Grand Rapids is seeking a reliable Equipment Assistant to support light and heavy equipment maintenance and assist mechanics. This role involves preparing equipment for service, performing basic repairs, and coordinating with local shops for repairs as needed.
The position requires a Valid Michigan Driver's License and a valid Michigan CDL Class A with Air Brakes and N Endorsement or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
The purpose of this job is to perform minor repairs and assist mechanics on light and heavy equipment when needed. Services light and heavy equipment vehicles. Transfers all types of equipment to different departments and/or vendors for various repairs. Assists the Stockroom for shipping/receiving, parts runs, and counter help. Installs and removes add-on equipment as needed.

This position is 2nd Shift.
Hours: 2:00 pm to 12:00 AM,
Days: Four, 10 hour work days. A schedule of Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday will be assiged.
