Summary

Are you mechanically inclined with a knack for hands-on work? Do you enjoy a flexible schedule and working independently, but also have the support of a team? The Equipment Service Technician is a remote-based, customer-facing role, primarily working inside hospitals. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing medical equipment used in surgical procedures, as well as providing installation support on complex mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic units.

Individuals with experience in HVAC repair, mechanics, maintenance, refrigeration, boilers, chillers, equipment repair, diesel and automotive repair, aviation repair, plumbing, electrical, etc., are often successful.

This is a remote, customer-facing position. To support and service our customers in this territory, candidates must be based in Texas.

What You'll Do As An Equipment Service Technician

  • Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of STERIS and competitor equipment, systems, and components.
  • Manage time effectively by prioritizing customer and business needs, completing PMs, service calls, warranty calls, equipment installations, and other duties.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to escalate issues, utilize technology platforms for compliance, and document troubleshooting.
  • Provide customers with information, pricing, and repair options; build relationships with sales to enhance customer experience and revenue; identify sales opportunities.
  • Support various locations within the assigned territory based on service agreements and customer needs.

Required Skills and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years of relevant work experience, including 2 years in a mechanical/technical role. Certifications or military experience may be considered.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet background and physical requirements for credentialing.
  • Customer and team engagement experience.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Windows, email, mobile apps, data entry).
  • Flexibility for schedules including overnights and early/late hours.
