Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Equipment Service Tech/Sales Associate to join our team. This dual-role position focuses primarily on the repair and maintenance of scuba equipment while also providing limited sales support. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for scuba diving.

Key Responsibilities:
Repair Department Duties:
  • Repair scuba equipment, including regulators, BCDs, gauges, and computers.
  • Operate and maintain basic compressor systems, including oil and filter changes, gauges, and whips.
  • Troubleshoot equipment by testing company and customer gear as needed.
  • Maintain rental department equipment in safe, usable condition, including overhauls, inspections, and repairs (excluding drysuits).
  • Conduct cylinder VIPs and hydro services, and clean cylinders through tumbling and O2 cleaning processes.
  • Manage gas fills (nitrox and trimix) and operate the partial pressure fill station.
  • Keep the repair station clean and organized, including parts storage and the 'boneyard.'
  • Submit parts orders when inventory is low or repairs are needed.
  • Build dive assemblies, including hoses, manifold blocks, and custom projects.
Sales Associate Duties:
  • Answer phones and assist customers.
  • Help walk-in customers with gear selection and inquiries.
  • Tag customer items with detailed work orders.
  • Maintain a presentable sales floor by organizing racks and cleaning after sales.
  • Participate in general housekeeping duties.
  • Operate air station for customer, shop, and rental cylinders.
  • Manage rental check-out and check-in processes.
  • Assist with annual projects, including boat show prep and year-end inventory.
Qualifications:
  • Scuba certification required; instructors or dive masters preferred but not mandatory.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially with fragile parts and torque specifications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Additional Information:

This position primarily involves repair duties but requires flexibility to assist in sales during busy periods. Training and certification for working on scuba equipment will be provided for the right candidate.
