Job summary

VACUUMSCHMELZE in Sumter, SC seeks an Equipment & Tooling Engineer to drive reliability and performance of manufacturing equipment. You will own the equipment lifecycle, from specification to handover, and work across Operations, Maintenance, Automation, Quality, and suppliers.

The role emphasizes developing preventive/predictive maintenance, leading equipment improvements, and supporting capital projects to enable production ramp‑ups and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–10 years of experience in manufacturing/equipment engineering or industrial equipment support.
• Experience with automated manufacturing equipment in high‑volume environments.
• Experience with equipment commissioning, startup, qualification, and ramp‑up.

Responsibilities

• Provide reliability and manufacturing support for equipment; troubleshoot complex issues and implement corrective actions.
• Design and implement equipment modifications to improve safety, quality, yield, throughput, and cost.
• Lead or support capital projects from concept through production release; coordinate installation, startup, and acceptance activities.
