Job summary

The Florida Department of Transportation is seeking a full-time Equipment Operator for Brevard Maintenance in Cocoa, FL. You will operate heavy equipment, perform routine maintenance, and assist with traffic control and sign installation as part of a coordinated crew.

Qualified candidates must have a Class B CDL with air brakes, be willing to be on-call, and adhere to safety standards while contributing to the department's mission to keep Florida’s transportation system safe and efficient.

Qualifications

• Must have basic math and safety knowledge.
• Ability to operate and maintain various heavy and small/medium equipment.
• Ability to read job materials and fill reports.
• Experience with temporary traffic control is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment for bridge/roadway maintenance.
• Lead and coordinate maintenance crew tasks and prepare reports.
• Perform minor maintenance and repairs on equipment and assist with signs installation.
