Alumicore, a Pittsburgh, PA based company, is seeking an Equipment Operator & Laborer for our Monessen facility. The role involves operating heavy machinery, transporting materials, and performing site labor to keep production flowing.

This shift-based position offers day and overnight options. You will follow OSHA and safety guidelines, conduct routine equipment checks, and collaborate with maintenance and production teams to meet project deadlines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; trades training preferred.
• Hands-on experience with heavy equipment or general industrial labor.
• At least 1 year operating forklifts, skid steers, or small mobile equipment.
• Basic computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate heavy equipment including forklifts, loaders, excavators, cranes, and haul trucks to stage materials.
• Site clearing and setup, material sorting, and prep to maintain workflow.
• Feed raw materials to production areas and conveyors per schedule.
• Perform daily inspections on machinery and conveyors for performance and safety.
• Conduct basic maintenance and report defects to supervisor.
• Comply with OSHA and safety policies.
• Maintain a clean, hazard-free work area and wear PPE.
• Perform physically demanding labor when machinery is idle.
• Collaborate with production technicians and supervisors to meet deliverables.

About Alumicore

Alumicore is a Pittsburgh, PA based company in the aluminum melting operations industry. We work alongside our customers to provide innovative solutions to the aerospace, beverage can, automotive, and high-end specialty markets. The Equipment Operator & Laborer will be responsible for operating heavy machinery, managing material transport, and executing general site labor tasks essential to day-to-day industrial operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in industrial site operations and contribute to impactful projects.

This is a shift position, with day shit and overnight shift options available, out of our Monessen, PA facility.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Safely operate a variety of heavy equipment—including forklifts, loaders, excavators, cranes, and haul trucks to stage, transport, and process materials for production lines.


2. Execute site clearing, staging area setup, material sorting, and physical site preparation to maintain continuous workflow.


3. Feed raw materials to production areas and conveyor systems in strict alignment with operational schedules.


4. Perform routine daily inspections on assigned machinery, mobile equipment, and conveyor systems to ensure optimal performance and regulatory compliance.


5. Conduct basic maintenance tasks (e.g., fluid checks, greasing, equipment cleaning) and report mechanical defects or repair needs immediately to supervisor/maintenance staff.


6. Strictly comply with all OSHA guidelines, construction regulations, industrial environment standards, and company safety policies.


7. Maintain a secure, orderly, and hazard-free work area; participate in routine site safety briefings and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.


8. Perform physically demanding manual labor tasks, site setup, and rigging support as needed when heavy machinery is not in active use.


9. Collaborate effectively with production technicians, maintenance teams, and site supervisors to complete project deliverables safely and on time.

Education and Experience Requirements

1. High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade training preferred.


2. Prior hands-on experience in heavy equipment operation or general industrial site labor.


3. 1+ years’ experience running forklifts, small mobile equipment, skid steers, and/or metal experience preferred.


4. Basic computer proficiency preferred.


5. Mechanical knowledge of heavy machinery, including mobile equipment and conveyor systems.


6. Strong attention to detail with the ability to enforce quality and safety standards consistently.

Working Conditions

1. Work in a physically demanding, high-heat, deadline-driven, and production-focused setting.


2. Working is performed in an industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, heat, dust, materials from operational area, molten metal, and extreme temperature variations.


3. Regular outside work required with exposure to weather conditions of extreme cold, and extreme heat.


4. Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift, and must be comfortable working from ladders, scaffolding, or elevated platforms when required.


5. Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs. Climbing stairs and working at varying heights as required.


6. See, hear, talk, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity; kneel, sit, stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, reach, pull, push and other similar, repetitive tasks requiring physical activity.


7. Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas.


8. Willing and able to work overtime when needed.


9. Valid driver’s license preferred.
