Job summary

California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is seeking an Equipment Operator II to perform highway maintenance tasks such as striping, sweeping, sign installation, and vegetation control. Incumbents must possess a valid Class A driver’s license with Tank endorsement; HazMat endorsement and Qualified Applicators Certification are desirable.

Position located in Mendocino County with potential per diem for out-of-town assignments.

Qualifications

• Must have valid Class A driver's license with Tank endorsement.
• Hazardous Materials endorsement desirable.
• Qualified Applicators Certification desirable.
• Knowledge of basic safe work practices and California Vehicle Code requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist with striping, pavement markings, sweeping, and sign installation.
• Perform chemical roadside vegetation control and operate equipment safely.
• Work individually or with a crew on highway maintenance tasks.
• Coordinate with other crews as needed and follow supervisor guidance.
