Job summary

LCRA is seeking an expert Heavy Haul Driver to join our team in Texas. This role involves operating heavy trucks and specialized trailers to support transmission construction, substations, power plants, dams and water operations.

You’ll haul oversized and overweight loads up to 250,000 pounds and work with a range of equipment. Join a team that values safety, inspections, and coordination with Fleet and supervision.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy trucks with multiple transmissions and specialized equipment.
• Transport oversized and overweight loads up to 250,000 pounds.
• Operate various trailers (lowboys, stretch floats, flatbeds, etc.).
• Safely haul and position equipment including transformers, switchgear, substation gear.
• Haul and manage fuels and other hazardous materials when required.
• Perform inspections and coordinate maintenance with Fleet and supervision.

Here’s The Role

LCRA is looking for an expert Heavy Haul Driver to join our team! This is not your typical driving job. We drive and operate a wide range of heavy trucks, specialized trailers and equipment, while supporting transmission construction, substations, power plants, dams and water operations, and other LCRA facilities. How You’ll Contribute

• Operate heavy trucks with 18-speed and 10-speed transmissions, rollback trucks and other specialized equipment, following FMCSA, DOT, TxDOT, and LCRA safety requirements.
• Transport oversized and overweight loads, including permitted loads up to 250,000 pounds.
• Operate a variety of trailers including lowboys, stretch floats, flatbeds, step decks, tankers, frac tanks, pole trailers, and van trailers.
• Safely haul, secure and position equipment such as excavators, dozers, cranes, graders, scrapers, transformers, breakers, switchgear, and mobile substations.
• Haul and operate baffled tankers and transport materials such as diesel, kerosene, oil, acid, and batteries when required.
• Perform required equipment inspections and coordinate maintenance and repairs with Fleet and supervision.

How You’re Qualified

• One or more years of experience in operating large equipment, such as bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, cranes, tractor trailers, farm equipment or other machinery.
• Class A Texas commercial driver's license

How You’ll Stand Out

• Tanker endorsement and experience transporting bulk liquid.
• Knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and TxDOT regulations.
• Experience working around substations, power plants, or other energized facilities.
• Ability to read load charts and determine appropriate equipment and setup requirements.
• Knowledge of materials and equipment used in transmission construction or maintenance.
• Basic computer skills, including email, word processing, and spreadsheets.
