Under limited supervision, performs skilled technical work in the operation of complex equipment for road maintenance and construction, including office duties and fieldwork exposure.
**Salary will be determined based on qualifications exceeding minimum requirements. Additional compensation may be provided for licensure.

Primary Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment such as dump trucks, rollers, mixers, loaders, forklifts, backhoes, mowers, graders, excavators, bulldozers, and other assigned machinery.
- Perform daily inspections, preventive and minor mechanical maintenance, record keeping, and reporting.
- Identify and report road deficiencies outside maintenance scope.
- Respond to public inquiries courteously and professionally.
- Maintain inventory, order materials, and keep storage areas organized.
- Operate vacuum trucks for stormwater drainage maintenance.
- Respond to emergency situations and adhere to safety standards.
- Maintain safety equipment and records.
- Communicate effectively with the public, staff, and vendors.
- Manage material tickets and billing documentation.
Additional Duties
Perform related work, operate other equipment, and assist in emergencies, with all employees considered essential during such times.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED and three years of experience in road and drainage maintenance/construction.
- Equivalent education, training, or experience may be substituted.
- Preference for experience with specific heavy equipment and certifications in Work Zone Safety, Confined Space Entry, NIMS, Erosion Control, Trenching/Shoring, Lift Training, OSHA, and others as required.
- Valid Florida Commercial Driver's License Class B, with the ability to obtain Class A within six months.
- Ability to perform technical tasks with limited supervision, understand instructions, and communicate effectively.
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, lift over 80 pounds, and work under adverse weather conditions.
- Sensory abilities including vision, smell, hearing, and speech.
